See the need - help fill the need.  That describes the Wilcox Sportsmen Club.

Wilcox Sportsmen presented a sizeable check to North Central PA Pheasants Forever.  The monies will be used to help fund our youth and veteran programs.

This year Pheasants Forever #630 coordinated dogs and dog handlers for more than 100 local youth, 12-16 years of age, during the October Mentored Youth hunting week.  All these kids and their parent or guardian were exposed to bird hunting, hunting with a dog, dog handling, the importance of habitat and gun safety combined with a little physical exercise and a lot of fun!  It takes dozens of volunteers and a few thousand dollars to make this event a success year after year.

Our PF Youth Outdoor Event this year featured 3 families of young people facing challenges in their lives.  An entire weekend of fun, hunting, eating, ATVs, fishing and more eating touches the hearts of everyone involved.  Our banquet and gun raffles help fund this event.

PF #630 partners with the National Wild Turkey Federation each November near Veterans Day.  This year’s event had almost 80 vets in the field hunting over dogs, many for the first time.  The NWTF takes the lead on the coordination and food but our dogs point out the birds.

PF is also instrumental in the our spring Wounded Warrior event, led by the East Brady American Legion.  While a much smaller hunting party, these men and women have made great sacrifices for our great country.  We thank them all.

Many thanks to the Wilcox Sportsmen for seeing our need and lending a hand.  Special thanks for Shawn Lynch for telling the local Pheasants Forever story.
